FOSAT
Engineering and Consultancy Services is a Limited Liability
Company registered under the Companies Code, 1963 (Act 179)
of Ghana. It was registered and issued a certificate of Incorporation
on 22nd September 1997.
FOSAT
was formed to offer consultancy services to clients seeking
to promote socio-economic development, especially in Urban
and rural areas and small towns, through the provision of
sustainable Water Supply, Sanitation, Drainage Systems, Rainfed
and Irrigated Agriculture, aquaculture, environmental protection
and other infrastructural services.
Another
major area where FOSAT’S activities are widely known is in
community sensitization, mobilisation and training programmes
towards ownership and management, in a manner that is compatible
with the environment.
Our Company
is acutely aware of the importance of human factors in the
success of projects. Consequently, in conducting all our studies
and especially community driven projects, we specifically
emphasise the need to:
- Provide
facilities, which respond to the choice of beneficiary communities.
- Actively
involve all key stakeholders (DA, beneficiaries) and secure
their commitment to sustainable use of facilities.
- Take
into account environmental factors in the implementation
of all project activities.
- Install
technologies /facilities that communities can operate maintain
and manage themselves or delegate.
- Train
executives and technicians until the transfer of responsibilities.
- Promote
organisational structures for the works and their management.
Our experience
shows that it is essential for future beneficiaries of projects
to have a clear idea of the way in which the responsibilities
are to be shared among the various project participants (the
Government, donors, the local authorities, users, private
sector, etc.), and of the various functions and tasks to be
fulfilled before, during and after project completion:
FOSAT
has a core of, highly experienced, multidisciplinary team
of engineers (civil/hydraulics engineers), Hydrogeologists/Geophysicists
and a socio-economist / land use planner. Members of the team
have field experience in their respective fields spanning
from 10 to over 20 years. We have a total staff capacity of
35 comprising 5 Civil Engineers, 4 Hydological Engineers,
8 Socio-Economists, 10 Administration and support staff, and
8 freelancers.
We also
have a cadre of seasoned Associate Consultants who regularly
participate in its multidisciplinary assignments as and when
necessary. Fosat has within its period of existence, carried
out a number of assignments successfully and in some cases
in Joint Ventureship with some local and International companies.
